2nd Week Of TRYING to be envormentally friendly :)
This week I have met 4 out of my 5 goals. Most of these were effective. This week when we went to the New Hannaford, we brought our eco bags. My mom actually bought a few more to add to the collection because were a few short on bags this weeks. This week my mom bought some type of eco friendly window cleaner. This product worked a lot better and obviously was better for the environment. Next we every night unplugged the coffee maker, WII and toaster. My dad use to have a habit which was to plug the coffee maker in the night before to get it ready so all he had to do was flip a switch, we broke him from this habit. This Wednesday night when I was dish girl, I put the plug in the sink and filled it with hot water. This saved water and also over flowed my sink. I accidentally overfilled my sink while trying to wash the dishes. The only goal I was unsuccessful at was unplugging my laptop before bed. Every night when I would go and try to unplug it, it wouldn't be fully charged so I just left it plugged in. I can prevent this issue from happening by plugging it in earlier at night. I think throughout this 2 week challenge I have learned that helping the earth isn't that hard and if everyone took the time to do these little things each day, our earth would be healthier.

1st Week of TRYING to be enviormentally friendly!
As my first week of trying to be Eco friendly, I met most of my goals. Every night we flipped off the switch that controlled our TV, WII and WII chargers. When my mom cleaned she used Seventh Generation (Windex like) to clean. When washing our dishes we also used Seventh Generation Dish Soap! This week when my mom went grocery shopping twice, both times she used the Hannaford Eco Friendly bags. On Wednesday night, I turned off the water when washing the dishes, which made it a little less messy :)

What are 5 things that I will do to be green?
1) Unplug appliances when not in use. For example the WII or toaster.
2) Using eco friendly cleaning products.
3) Only plug my laptop in till its charge and not all night.
4) Try and remember to bring the eco friendly bags to the grocery store.
5) When I wash the dishes on Wednesday nights, turn the water off while scrubbing the dishes.

What are some ways I already save energy?
Throughout our house we have the CFL light bulbs. When we aren't in our rooms, we always turn off the lights. Also our dryer and washer is an energy star product. When it is nice out, we use our clothes line instead of using our dryer. We use cold water when washing jeans. My mom also cleans out the lint thing in the dryer, which makes the dryer more efficient. We have programmable thermostats in our house. I have jeans as insulation in my house and we put another layer on when it is cold, to keep the thermostat at a reasonable level. We also have shades throughout our house to keep it cool during the summer.
